Spreepark is an abandoned amusement park in the city of Berlin.
Originally opened as Kulturpark Plänterwald in 1969 and continued to entertain Vistiors until 1989.
In the 1990's Spreepark emerged with more modern western attractions and visitor numbers peaked at around 1.5 million a year.
By the turn of the century the park was struggling admission prices were increased and parking was not as accesable as it once was by 2001 vistior numbers had decreased to 400,000 a year. With this struggle the park closed its gates the next year in 2002.
Guided tours had been available but since the city of Berlin purchased the site these have since stopped.
The future of Spreepark is unclear and shortly after our visit a fire broke out causing substantial amounts of damage.
