St Johns Hospital Chelmsford: UK April 2013
The hospital was originally built in 1837 and had various parts added to it over the years.
In 2005 parts of the hospital started to close leading up until August 2010 when the hospital closed its doors to patients for the last time.
The maternity ward delivered over 100,000 lives into the world. It was fully active right up until the day of closure when two babies were delivered.
Later on in 2013 a housing development started on the site.
There was plans to retain some of the buildings in the development. However it wasn't financially viable and the whole site was demolished. The developer said that they would rebuild something similar with salvaged materials from the demolition. I do not know if this is the case.
