Qinetiq is British defence technology company founded in 2001.
Being one of the largest defence contractors in the UK and being related to the legendary Pyestock (I really must make a report from there). I held high hopes for some epic finds at this large abandoned industrial site.
It's a vast site and we explored every inch of every building discovering lab after lab and even more labs! Somehow we missed the anechoic chamber, but it was fairly stripped. Some even had strange stained orange glass windows which made you feel like you were in an instagram filter. They were used to protect photosensitive materials.
I can confirm the rumours of a mock R3 bunker being here are true even down to the keycard entry. We wasnt really prepared for shooting in the dark but managed to get a couple of shots.
I would say my visit here was a bit late, it was only brought to my attention due to an article about the site being demolished for homes and some more job losses at the site. Well as you can see a lot of this site has been out of use for a long time.
Qinetiq is still operating at the site but on a much smaller capacity.
