Power Plant IM: Belgium September 2017

Power Plant IM is a large abandoned power station in Belgium. Built in 1921 on the outskirsts of Charleroi it was one of the largest coal fired power plants in Belgium.

It was the main source of electricity in the area but also the main source of carbon dioxide emissions in Belgium, even after a gas conversion during the 1970's 10% of emissons came from this one plant.

Due to the high levels of carbon dioxide the plant was boycotted by Greenpeace and eventually closed in 2007.

I had visited IM Cooling Tower previously in 2013 but it was certainly a pleasure to visit this site again. Apparently the cooling tower was able to cool 480,000 gallons of water every minute!

As I had visited the site before I took the opportunity to fly the Mavic Pro and grab a few shots and some video.
