An abandoned university in Belgium which is also connected to an observatory.
I visited this observatory on my first urbex trip to Belgium. Only managed to grab one shot of a telescope and nothing else. Well at least it added to the One Shot Wonders article.
This visit luck was on our side and access was granted to the rest of the site.
The actual observatory buildings were built late in the 19th century with red bricks in a medieval style. Two round towers house telescopes at the top of them. I believe there would of been a third one housed on the ground floor in a part of the site I was unable to access.
The rest of the building is more modern in design and I guess was built in the mid 20th century.
I believe around 2008 renovation plans were in place for the site to become an institute for archaeology this seems to of been put on hold and the site is now left to disrepair.
