Victoria Power Station Kirkaldy: Scotland May 2016
The Victoria Power Station was built at the turn of the 20th century to power the street lights and the local tram network. Electricity was first generated here on the 15th of December 1902, but the official opening was on the 28th February 1903 with Provost Tate firing up the station at 3pm.
During the early 1930's busses were introduced to the area, the tramways services were cut back and were soon defunct. I believe the power station eventually closed during the 1960's.
In April 2017 permission was granted for demolition of the site. This seems to be a last resort as it was on offer for £1and all that needed to be saved was the facade!
