Crystal Palace Subway is a grade ii listed underpass built in 1865. It was built to provide access to Crystal Palace from the new High level Station.
The High Level station was built to help with the influx of visitors to Crystal Palace.
Sadly Crystal Palace was destroyed by fire in 1936 this lead to a lack of use of the high level station which closed in 1954 and was eventually demolished in 1961 leaving the underpass out of use.
There is a campaign to restore and reopen the subway but at the moment it remains locked up under a busy road hidden from the public view.
It is usually opened to the public on heritage days such as Open London.
