Built in 1866 by an English architect this stunning castle is well and truly in a sorry state.
It remained a home until the second world war when it was taken over by the National Railway Company Of Belgium and became an orphanage until 1980. Since 1991 the castle has remained empty and abandoned.
So this is like an urbex pilgrimage. As you approach through the forest, you can see the tall turrets appearing in the skyline. It really adds to the anticipation. Words cant describe the feeling as you se it for yourself. It seems so much bigger than the images portray.
There is an ongoing battle to try and save the castle sadly it may be to late as the extent of damage is overwhelming and would mount up to serious costs for restoration.
Whatever happens to this beautiful castle it is well documented over the internet and its legacy will live long after its restoration or demise.
