The vast abandoned Carsid site in Charleroi contains too much for one report so I have chose to break it down into smaller parts. Carsid is a large steelworks site separated by the River Sambre. It is now an industrial wasteland with various running parts scattered around the site.
Here is one of the main entrances for staff on the North side of the river. A surprisingly grand art-deco entrance leads in to the site flanked with large changing rooms and showers each side. It instantly reminded me of a theatre entrance. Certainly not what you would expect from a steelworks.
